This robust, finely textured Masso Antico Negroamaro comes from the Salento region (Apulia) in the far south, at the heel of the Italian boot. Apulia is a picturesque, hilly landscape dotted with vineyards and olive trees. Thanks to the very warm temperatures, which are only slightly tempered by the sea breeze, the grapes ripen to perfection. Alongside Primitivo, Negroamaro is one of the region’s most widely grown grape varieties and best suited to its unique climate. Masso Antico glows with a deep colour in the glass and unfolds powerfully on the palate, with a tannin structure that lends it great freshness. Before bottling, part of the wine is aged for some time in lightly toasted French tonneaux barrels.
