The growing region for this aromatic red wine is Salento (Puglia), situated at the very southern tip of Italy’s ‘boot’. Warm temperatures and cooling sea breezes create an ideal climate. Thanks to a late harvest, some of the Primitivo grapes dry out slightly on the vine (appassito).
This results in the desired concentration of aromas within the grape. Harvested by hand, the grapes are then pressed, fermented and aged. Finally, the wine is allowed to mature for around 6 months in French oak barrels. Masso Antico is a distinctly full-bodied and dense red wine with soft tannins and subtle vanilla notes.
