Aalborg Nordguld Akvavit was launched in 2007 and is the world’s first, and so far only, aquavit to contain aromatic compounds that were trapped in amber for up to 30 million years. Amber is also known as the gold of the North—hence the name. In addition to distillate from amber, Nordguld also contains distillates from caraway and dill seeds. Its final character is shaped by maturation in sherry casks.
